UTIHP’s 16th Annual HHR Conference On March 22 & 23, 2014, the University of Toronto International Health Program (UTIHP) hosted it’s 16th Annual Health and Human Rights Conference, which explored the health and wellbeing of the you鸿运彩app在哪下载ngest, and most vulnerable citizens of the world. Children across the globe face unique health and human rights issues that have long lasting effects on their development and future lives as adults. To explore this, our conference focused on the theme, ‘Global Health and Human Rights from a Child’s Perspective. Welcoming over 250 students of medicine, law, public health and undergraduate disciplines from across the country, this conference confronted issues including access to education, communicable diseases, refugee child health, aboriginal child health, nutrition, child marriage and trafficking, and children’s health in times of conflict, amongst many others. Student networking opportunities were facilitated during our NGO and Research Fairs, and we proudly welcomed keynote addresses from Dr. Bob Scott, a leader in the polio eradication initiative; Dr. James Maskalyk, emergency physician at St Michael’s Hospital and author of ‘Six Months in Sudan’; and Dr. Kumanan Rasanathan, public health physician at the UNICEF Headquarters in New York City. Our conference brings together tomorrow’s physicians, public health professionals, pharmacists, nurses, lawyers, policy makers and NGO workers to begin working towards a better world. We believe an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach is an essential part of the solution to global health challenges, and we hope you鸿运彩app在哪下载’ll join us in 2015!
